What is the name of this 1930s or '40s film?

Possibly pre-codes era? Theme: an unhappy wife has an affair with a man. In the end of the movie, she and her husband hold a dinner party. Then she and the man she loves go out (for a walk?) in the rain. It's a drama, not a comedy, with themes I didn't expect to find in a movie from that era.
